I have always wanted to go to goodwood but it's such a long way away, any I got some tickets for this year - anyone going or been before?
Looking for tips, what time is best to get there for the Saturday? are there big queues? best places to view etc etc
Cheers
Mark
I went for the first time last year and it was fantastic. Going again this year but thinking of the Sunday for the timed runs.
Best views are in the Grandstands but there should be plenty of other viewing places.
We got great views from up by the "Wall". Lots of showboating on the way up the hill.
Get there early and make yourself comfortable. We arrived mid morning and the best viewing spots had gone.
Food was expensive - £40 for burgers for 3 adults and 2 kids!!!!!
Rally stages where really good and plenty of viewing. It gets crowded by the "Jomp" but wasn't too busy.
If you don't mind going on the Friday then you can do what I did this year and get free tickets.
The Times do a ticket giveaway for the fri and give 3000 pairs of tickets away. all you have to do is apply online and wait and see.
Very good show, plenty so see.
the lads and i went last year and it was F A B . prob best single event we have ever been to in terms of getting close to things and seeing the lot.
we w nt from the north west so made a full weekend of it and camped. wasnt cheap for tickets etc but wel wel worth it. too m uch to see in a day.
friday was quietest day and we went round all teh stands and side shows as well as cherry picking the runs we wanted to see, had startline grand stand
and thought that was best place to be although on fri and sat you could sit anywhere as long as you had A grandstand pass.
sat went round F1 and the historic pits and autions and bonhams and teh bond cars etc nad bikes and watched everthing go up the hill from grand stand
opposite house, not as good as startline.
sun went to rally stage and pit area and dakar area and watched timed runs from start line seats and airbus fly past.
best bits - 1. seeing mototsport heroes - way too many to mention all but got piccys and autographs from miko hirvonen, damon hill, jackie stewart,
juha kankunan, nicky grist
2. super cars runs and garages - never seen a veyron before and saw 4 in a day, will never look at a bentley the same again fast?? ohh yes.
3 F1 cars on teh sartline and the pre start line warm too. jenson button burning a full cliutch before getting away from teh line.
4 the ground moving beneath my feet and feeling the need to plug ears for only 2nd time in life at the drag car start up.
5. rally car pits
6. silk cut jag Leman car going up the hill.
did i get accross how good it was????
forgot to mention best place too see drivers as at the top of the hill, ohh and dougie lampkin riding along next to you looking for anything to ride
