HELP for HEROES - The Big Battlefield Bike Ride 5th - 11th June 2011
hicost - 14/3/11 at 08:28 AM

I know we are all into our cars and related projects, but over the past 18 Months I have been training down the gym and generally getting a bit fitter.

As a result I have now committed to take part in The Big Battlefield Bike Ride 5th - 11th June 2011. This is a charity event for HELP for HEROES.

This ride is over five days averaging 80 miles a day. We will start in Normandy and finish in Paris. It will be a challenge for all involved and by no means an easy ride.

Apologies for asking but I had to pledge £2,300 just to get a place... so any donations, no matter how small, will help me get to the start line and the finish line!

All proceeds will go directly to HELP for HEROES.

No hard sell but please take a minute to look over their website and see the work they do

Well I leave tomorrow for the start of my ride to Paris..

Thanks for those that have given money to date, and please anyone who has not it’s not too late.

I am going to keep a blog for the week at:

http://www.jamesmiles.co.uk/2011/06/welcome/#comments

I can update this from my iPhone, I will endeavour to do it as regularly as possible.

So all I can say is DIG DEEP BOYS, it’s not for me it’s for the lads who are fighting a few wars around the world, personally I am self-employed as near as dam it and I am giving up a weeks’ worth of wages to do it. The more I have got involved the more you realise as much as we go about our daily lives we don’t really see the tragedy at face value and it is all too easy to swap channel or walk away.

I will be with disabled and injured people all week from both the UK and US, I was over in Laon France last weekend and I saw the vast amount of war graves.

It’s going to be a tough week both mentally and physically.

Thanks for your support.

James

Hi James,

Best of luck fo rhte rides!

I'm afraid I could only spare a couple of quid as I lost my job on Friday and have nothing to go to, but the measly couple quid is given with pleasure to you and to a great cause...
