I realise cheffy may be on holiday which may make this a little pointless as yet, but I thought we might as well get going. Basically, who's up
for crashing cheffy's place in Bleinham Palace?!
If I remeber right, the vague (very vague) plan was a bbq at the end of the month. Can anyone
remeber what dates he said? Also can't remember if we said to make it wednesday again, or go for a possibly more doable weekend day.
Any thoughts folks?
Cheffy's last words on the subject from the old meet thread you started:

Right guys, re BBQ.
I'm off to Malta from the 11th August till the 25th. Therefore, the first Wednesday after I get back would be Wednesday 30th August, although
I'm almost certainly working that night.
How would everyone be fixed for Wednesday 6th September? Hopefully the weather will still be half decent.
Martin. (cheffy)

Martin (JUD)
Should really read things like that a little closer!
Bugger, I'm on call then too!

Don't think he has definitely nailed a date - merely a suggestion.
Best to wait till he is back so we can get a majority vote on what works for most people.
I have a feeling I'll be in India on business for a fair amount of September

A nice warm place where it probably isn't raining! Any ideas as yet which dates you will be in the country/area?

Hi Guys.
Right, back safely in the sunny UK.
Definately working this Wednesday. Assuming I'm off the following Wednesday, the 6th, how's everybody fixed then? You still on call then Si,
you still in India Martin?
I'm open to suggestions - well polite ones anyway.
Mart
Not India - but Bristol!
Should be OK, but may be a little late pending traffic.
What time you thinking of starting?
Is it "blokes only" or "missus and snappers" as well?
India starts on the 18th until the end of the month
Martin
Hi Martin. Yea, wives & kids all welcome - the more the merrier!
What about everyone else? Si, will you be able to make the 6th or are you definately on call? I've got no problems with changing the date, the
only problem for me is making sure I've got the night off. Also, if we're still going for a BBQ we need to sort something fairly soon before
the weather gets too bad.
With regard to the BBQ itself, how about if I organise supplying the food and everybody chucks a couple of quid towards it on arrival - I just need to
get an idea of numbers.
As for drink, how about if everybody brings whatever they want to drink with them? Or, if it's easier, I don't mind getting it in and people
can settle up with me when they get here?
What does everybody think. I'm open to (polite
) suggestions!
Cheers,
Mart.
PS. Start about 7'ish?
[Edited on 30/8/06 by Cheffy]
evening all, will have to give the bbq a miss this time, works put me on a bloody course starting wednesday morning in Yorkshire!
Hope you all have fun without me
Still on call I'm afraid.

And I won't even finish work until 8pm as it is. Whilst a different date would be better for me, I have
no objections to missing this one if more people want the 6th.
Martin,
I am OK for the 6th, but see what others can manage. Suggestions on paying for food sounds good.
I would have though bring your own drink would be easier?
Martin
Right, so DIY Si and Chris Russell can't do the 6th. At the moment that just leaves me and Martin (JUD). What about pushing it back a week to the
13th? How does that work for everybody? Martin, you said India starts on the 18th, would you be good for the 13th?
Mart.
I'm good for that. Do the other locals know yet?
Good for the 13th as well...
Wahey........now we're getting somewhere!
Chris R, Dan, et al, what about you guys?
Mart.
I'm here
13ths good for me, the 6th I'm at work, any later and i'm on holiday.
My cars off road delcaired SORN at the mo, I could trailer it there
.
Martin 3rd to 5th this month i'm about if you need a hand.
ATB Dan.
Excellent. The 13th it is then.
As previously mentioned, I'll organise the food and everybody brings whatever they're drinking with them. Fingers crossed for a decent days
weather!
If you guys could confirm how many you're bringing with you to give me an idea of numbers for the grub.

Me and the missus for food. Even if she doesn't make it. I'll eat her's anyway.
Martin, What time are you looking at for the BBQ?, just asking because of the young family.
ATB Dan.
Hi Dan,
I was thinking of starting about 7'ish. I'm happy for it to go on as long as people want to stay. That way it's early enough for those
with kids to come for an hour or two, but also those without kids can arrive and/or stay a bit later if they wish.
Hopefully I'll be off all day so I can start as early as people want. What do others think?
Mart.
Cool with me, Just found out the wife and family are down in Southampton that day anyway
ATB Dan.
7's a nice reasonable tiem. Mean's I can get home have a wash, fix the car, break it again and still have time to get there.
Easy fella, I'm after a 100% track record for breaking cars to and from meets
ATB Dan.
so far the 13th sounds good for me, will wait till the misses gets back to confirm
if i can get mine sva'd and registered byt ehn ill be there!!!!!!!!
Hi Toady1,
When's the SVA booked in for?
Mart.
Mart
13th Sept @ 19:00hrs - good to go
Attendees - me, the missus + 2 kids aged 11 & 12
U2U me your post code, I'll find you from that. Also a contact number just incase things go FUBAR at my end.
You do food, we do money & drinks.
Sorted.
Cheers
Mart
Very good point that, where the heck are we going? Apart from just your gaff, cheffy! I remember you saying something about Bleinheim Palace, but otherwise I'll be going round in circles.
Afternoon all,
I live inside the park which is locked after 6.30 so I'll get my son to wait at the main gate from say 6.50ish till about 7.15 to let people in.
I'll U2U all those who have expressed an interest in coming later on this evening with detailed instructions as it's a bit complicated once
you get inside the park. I'll also include landline and mobile numbers etc in case of problems. Anybody arriving later no problem, just
text/e-mail or call and I'll arrange for you to be let in.
Just to confirm, I'll organise food and everyone can chuck a couple of quid in when they get here. People to bring whatever they're drinking
with them.
If those that haven't already could confirm how many they will be that would be great.
While I think about it, any vegetarians or special dietary requirements?
Hope that's okay,
Cheers guys,
Mart.
I'll be there on me own, I think I know where it is
ATB Dan.

Not again
, You been making any Brum noises in the car lately.
ATB Dan.
Naa, just keep standing looking at it and admiring the new floor!
just back from holiday, so just seen this....
is this an open invite, or invite only?

Hi Alan,
Open invite mate. How many shall I put you down for?
And no, I haven't forgotten to U2U the directions!
Will try and do it tonight - still at work at the moment!
Cheers guys,
Mart

Right Gents,
By my reckoning we currently have:
Dan (Scutter) x 1
Martin (JUD) x 2 + 2 kids
(DIY) Si x 2
Alan (Jumpy Guy) x 2
and possibly Chris Russell x 2
Anybody else gonna be able to make it? Fingers crossed for the weather!
Mart.
PS. No vegetarians out there that I should know about before going food shopping?
Mart, you want me to throw zeeboo on the back of car
ATB Dan.
Hi Dan,
Gonna show my ignorance now.........
Zeeboo?
Mart
Ah got it....
Gazebo?
Might be an idea. Might be able to get a couple from work.
Mart.

Is it worth risking such a potentially vital piece of kit to someone aiming for a 100% break down record?!

only the one place for me, I can't eat that much! see you all there!
scutter - 12/9/06 at 04:28 PMSi, the zeeboo is to affect repairs in a dry enviroment
![]()
Ok, just what are the meet up details for tomorrow, ie time, place to be let in?
ATB Dan.
DIY Si - 12/9/06 at 05:40 PMYou should have recieved a U2U from cheffy with the info. If not, basically get to the main gates of Bleinheim Palace at & and his son will tell you where to go from there.
Cheffy - 12/9/06 at 06:06 PMHi Dan,
You should have had a U2U - I'll re-send it but as Si said, if you come to the big wrought iron main gate (on the main road into Woodstock by the speed camera) my son, Andrew, will be there to let you in. Bout 7 - 7.15ish.
You should be able to remember the way from there![]()
Mart.
DIY Si - 12/9/06 at 07:06 PMJust because I can be a little useless at this kind of stuff, will your son be quite obvious or is he small enough to hide behind blades of grass?
Cheffy - 12/9/06 at 07:46 PMHi Si,
6'2" and 28. Oh and probably chain smoking!
Mart.
I'll tell him to park outside the gate. He'll be in a grey '51' Vectra.
[Edited on 12/9/06 by Cheffy]
He says he'll wear a red rose and carry a copy of The Times if it helps!![]()
[Edited on 12/9/06 by Cheffy]
DIY Si - 12/9/06 at 11:41 PMI think he should be easy enough to spot with out the Times, although a red rose is always a nice touch!
scutter - 13/9/06 at 09:29 PMA big thanks to Martin, Anita and Andrew for a great night under the stars
Good to see everyone.
See you all next month,
ATB Dan.
DIY Si - 13/9/06 at 10:31 PMSame from over here. Great food, good company and all that. Just a shame I broke down on the way there, and nearly didn't make it home!
Cheffy - 13/9/06 at 11:12 PMGlad you guys made it home ok in the end. Bit of a hectic day all round but we got there in the end!
Excellent night, thanks to all who came.
Looking forward to the next one.
Mart.
PS. Dan - Anita's impressed that you remembered her's and Andrew's names!
[Edited on 13/9/06 by Cheffy]
Jumpy Guy - 14/9/06 at 07:47 AMthanks to Martin and clan for a top night!
Maxine is now convinced that Locosts are inherently unreliable, and not a proper mode of transport at all.
But, she loved the burgers, so she's happy enough about me wasting money on the car!!
women....
scutter - 14/9/06 at 08:38 AM
DIY Si - 14/9/06 at 05:11 PMSorry about that!
JUD - 14/9/06 at 07:18 PMGood to see everybody last night. Food was great - but then to be expected at Cheffy's!
Si, I guess the rain was a problem for even mainstream motors - my wife's Renualt Megane CC leaked in the storm overnight. Good old French build quality. At least it is still under warrantee.
Mart, forgot to bung you some money for the food. Remind me when we meet up next time. Thank Anita for the hospitality and Andrew for putting up with a bunch of sad nutters!
Cheers,
Martin
Cheffy - 14/9/06 at 08:40 PMHi Martin,
No worries about the cash, catch you next time. As far as Andrew's concerned he's the sadest nutter of them all!
Cheers,
Mart.
chris.russell - 15/9/06 at 12:44 PMcheers martin and co, top night out, will have to stay out later next time!
Will bring along the recovery vehicle next time and a proper tow rope
DIY Si - 15/9/06 at 03:39 PMIt'll be fine, I'll have my own jump leads and maybe a spare battery in the boot!
