Yo Jasper the local nunnery has invited me round for a party on the sat so from previous experience i wont be in any fit state for a few weeks

James - 14/4/02 at 05:45 PM

Well, not bad, we managed five of us to this meet: myself, TheConrodKid, Bob, Merlin and Dazza. Glad to see most of us have already got back on line already!

My thanks and (as 'De Yoof' of today would say) 'Big Up' to The Conrod Kid for the fantastic blast in The Conrod Cruiser- well done on building such a great machine!
I've had a big on my face ever since!

If anyone is ever flagging a bit in their build get someone to give you a ride*** and you suddenly realise why you're doing it all!

Anyway, gonna go get on with it now- actually start chassis tomorrow (at last) and need to make a cutting list!

James

*** And Conrod: we all know it's only you who has a smutty inuendo grin on at the moment.

theconrodkid - 14/4/02 at 06:28 PM

And the food was good so lets have a bigger turnout next time!

bob - 14/4/02 at 06:58 PM

ChrisW - 15/4/02 at 01:07 PM

Dazza - 15/4/02 at 10:05 PM

12th sounds good. i am up for it!!!! oooeeerrr....

theconrodkid - 16/4/02 at 07:19 PM

Ok may 12th10-30 ish bee there or forever drive a nissan micra

Jasper - 17/4/02 at 09:43 AM

Didn't make Detling (sick wife) or last brekkie (had to go look at sofa's - that was exciting..) Definitely coming to Stoneleigh and will try to make the brekkie on the 12th.

Have talked my local tech into running a 'Build your Own....' nightschool from the Autumn term so have decided to wait till then b4 starting, save some cash, and plan. Seems stupid to start before then even tho I'm itching to as they have the lot - motor workshop, metal fabrication, motorcycle workshop run by Brighton largest dealer, and two tutors who race stock cars and track cars. Just have to spend the summer dreaming and checking out other cars.....

Sounds like a great opportunity to source and strip your donor car/cars then! With no pesky ( ) chassis building to get in the way you'll have the parts cleaned, stripped, rebuilt and painted by the time you need them!

Don't waste time waiting, you really can't beat having the summer evenings/weekends for getting loads done.

It hurts less when you bash your fingers in the warm too!

Have a good summer!

Good idea - just can't decide on Sierra IRS, or live Axel Cortina or Escort.....I'm leaning toward Cortina for ease of build, and I'll have a while to source one to...

theconrodkid - 17/4/02 at 07:11 PM

Yo Jasper,Cortina/Escorts are rarer than tax re bates so go seirra, the MK one is good unless you want to do it all from scratch.
PS let us know when the kit car run to Brighton is on,went last year it was great!

Dazza - 17/4/02 at 11:08 PM

I agree, escort/cortina's are as rare as rocking horse doodaa, so stick with the sierra one. Lots to be had as donors and easier to get recon/new parts to!!!! try getting new bits from ford/halfords/etc for a cortina!!!!!!

Jasper - 18/4/02 at 09:33 AM

My only worry going Sierra is a lack of plans for the chassis build - tho' with the help I'll get at nightschool this hopefully won't be too much of a problem....I'll just take a tape measure and camera to Stoneleigh.
