Oulton Trackday Report

This was a cracking day out. Despite the odd shower we only had one truly wet session and the track soon dried.

A huge thank you to WorX (Steve) for sorting out my car's several degrees of positive camber that it had somehow developed. And thanks to the porker that stuffed it into the armco meaning we didn't lose any track time while we (he) did it!

I had an annoying fuel pump problem at one stage. It ran out of stuff to pump! Ooops

Andy D knows how to pedal his boat anchor powered Westie but Steve and I had a good go at staying with him although my car was a bit tail happy two up. Good fun. But I was very disappointed that Andy's pals were just driving away from me until I discovered they were busa powered. Quick machines.

One downer, some poor chap stuffed his Westie into the barrier before Shell Oils. Front and rear damage. It looked an expensive fix.

I went along for moral support only, so a really big (return of) thanks to you for taking me out more than once!

I did think it was strange that your mechanical/electrical problem that stopped you half way round the track whilst chasing that Atom, was suddenly OK after putting some more fuel in on the return to the pits!

It was a cracking day, can't wait to get mine on the track now!
Cheers,
Steve.

That was my best bit of the day! chasing the blue meanie! and a dead battery in the camcorder.. Really fell in love with the place, and the weather was a dam site better than I was expecting. Sure I saw the sun peeping though in that last session.

And it was a shame we lost a little track time to the aforementioned blue meanie *cough* "breaking down"

Nice to meet you lads, we'll have to have some more of that!

Hehe, I'm just glad the marshalls assumed it was another kit car breakdown and I didn't have to go and see the head teacher

See you in July.

Here's the one and only vid I got before my useless Oregon ATC2000 packed up. From the first session of the day chasing an Exige:

Don't they charge you 10 grand or something if you publish video from Oulton (or any other MSV circuit for that matter) on t'interweb etc? At least they say they do (on the forms you sign) - whether they follow it up is another matter.

The contract could never stand up, they'd have to prove they lost 10k. I guess they're trying to stop professional misuse of high quality footage for which they should rightly levy a fee and not some dodgy google vids.

Just had a look at the form, it actually states £25,000 !! May have to title my footage "At an unspecified trackday, on an unspecified date, from an unidentfied car" Have put a short clip together, but my PC is running as slow as a blade engined car, two up! Can't get it to upload at all...

Looks like a fun day out

Yellow cones being used as line markers by any chance?

Dont knock the yellow cones, that was my first visit to Oulton, I found them, plus the bend signs a big help. That is one bootifull circuit though!

Those vid's were really good!

looked good in the wet flying by that Atom, 'cause he wasn't hanging about most of the day!!!

Was laughing my head off at the end of your first video, seeing Derek and I standing by the tyre wall near his "broken down" car

Steve

Steve, I think there were two Atoms, a fast one and a slow one. You can guess which one that was!

I've got some video of an early attempt at hanging on to Jubal, before he stopped for a pic-nic. May put it together later.

There were indeed two Atoms. One driven by a guy that races karts and is pretty handy. One possibly being driven by Steve's grandma. Cheers for the vids Andy!

Works a treat Sorry for the brake test, but at least one of us was watching the flags I've been in trouble before for getting tunnel vision so tend to be pretty alert these days.
