WTD: Someone in Reading with a Solid Vice

I'm having a lot of trouble undoing the nut on my alternator pulley. I've tried clamping the pulley in my work mate but I just bent the work mate. I'm running out of ideas aside from borrowing a solid bench vice for five minutes.

Does anyone have one I could use quickly, or have any suggestions on how to undo it?

I've tried a torx bit in the middle of the shaft with a spanner on the nut but that hasn't worked.

will have it off in seconds

Place an old fan belt around the pulley and using either a vice or some mole grips hold the fan belt tight around the pulley.
If you don't have a suitable vice drop the slack part of the fan belt down through your workmate and hold it tight with the mole grips, if you don't have any of those try putting something large and round into the loop that hangs down below the workmate. If that fails put it back on the car on it's slackest position with the fan belt on and wind some small rope or cord around the fan belt before and after the pulley so that it tightens more and more as you keep winding the rope round and round.

The only time i had to do this, was put the alternator back on the car, with the fan belt as tight as poss, then put a ring spanner on the nut, and wack the other end of a spanner with a hammer the way to undo,

A decent impact wrench will have it of in seconds, more importantly , safely

I have a vice, and a battery impact gun, and I live in Caversham, if that helps?

If w4lrus is a no-go, let me know and I'll investigate how easy it is to get into my garage...not been in there for a while and the kids and Missus have been using it as a dumping ground..

....in desperation, given the locost tool selection, cut the nut with a hacksaw?

Impact air gun will shift just about anything, except 49 year old land rover leaf spring nuts...
