Thats how most of them are. Id be more worried about Warrens wooden floor thatn the colum mount.

Not a lot of load on a steering column. Common to attach them with a single bolt. Avoiding vibration would seem to be the real issue - I hate buzzy wheels.

No need for the sad face my friend, the bottom of the mount is now radiussed to suit the tube. The mounting bolts also pass through welded in tubes.
I reckon you could pick the car up with it!
Likewise the upper gearchange cable mount next to it.
