Fixing Floor to Chassis
IainL - 5/2/10 at 08:36 PM

I'm hoping to get the aluminium floor attached to the chassis this weekend, using sealed rivets every 2 inchs and adhesive/sealent, but could someone suggest what adhesive/sealent I should use?

Cheers

I think most people use sikaflex, but wurth wunderseal is pretty similar.

Sikaflex/texflex / tiger sealer any of these
they all come under pu adhesives sealers

And are as sticky as buggery! I've just done my floor and I think it's safe to say "don't overdo it" It's a sod to clean up the excess

Just keep an eye on the temp. Datasheet says min 5C. I've been waiting a while to do some side panels, hopefully tomorrow 'cos it's going to get bl**dy cold again next week according to the weatherman

"Gunk" engine cleaner isn't bad for cleaning off sikaflex, especially if it hasn't set. Lots of cloths, old clothes, and disposable gloves.

Also in cold weather it isn't a bad idea to leave the tubes in the house before you start.

Remember, once bonded, then removing equals destroying.

Enjoy it, I found the progress to be very rewarding.

If you forget to leave the tubes in the house, put in warm water for a bit.
