Cobra Chassis Width

Hi All,

I've got an idea for a new project but need to know the approximate width of a Cobra kit chassis?!
Something like the Dax or similar.

I've searched the web but had no success.

Can anyone help?

Depends on the manufacturer

Cheap Sierra based ones use a Sierra rear axle with 0 offset wheels. Decent ones like gardener Douglas use a jaguar rear end, just have a google for XJS wheelbase and track.

And just to complicate matters still further, really decent ones sometimes use Jaguar rear end with shortened driveshafts and lower wishbones to match the original track width.

And then there are the MGB axle 289 replicas from the likes of Hawk.

Just google 289 cobra chassis dims, there seems to be loads of pages with the facts you require.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm after the width of the actual chassis, I can only find complete body dimensions unless I'm missing something?

I need to check that the chassis will fit up under my project body hence the ask.

In which case Mark's answer will still hold, I'm afraid: it will still depend on the manufacturer.

But in that case, have you considered the Gardner Douglas chassis, which apart from being one of the best handling Cobras, also happens to be a backbone that could be adapted to pretty much whatever body width you like:



Not the cheapest, though.

A TVR chassis might be an alternative, too, if the wheelbase and track dimensions work for you.
