Whats the best method to finish the steel chassis? Hammerite? Primer first? Thanks

Chassis Black. Available from automotive paints suppliers. Doesnt need priming, but you do need to de-rust and key the surface.

Alternatively you can use POR15, but its very expensive, and if you go that route you may as well pay for it to be powder coated in my opinion.

If you have a compressor and spray gun I would suggest using an etch primer first, it will give whatever finish you are going with better adhesion.

Do a search. Diffrent people have diffrent ideas!

Most essential is the preparation work, de-rust, clean and remove sharp edges/weld splatter..

I chose to use Etch Primer, then a flexable chassis black. But you can use household gloss, works well apparently, and stays flexable.

Hamerite goes very hard and chips apparaently?
