Diff output stubs
koiking125 - 27/2/12 at 09:12 PM

Ok, so I have searched the forum but cannot seem to find a definitive answer. Can I swap the 100mm lobro output shafts from my 3.62 LSD diff into a push in 3.38 open diff without any problems. If its not possible is the only option to have the crown wheel and pinion from the 3.38 fitted into the LSD unit?

Thanks in advance Kevin.

One side stub is shorter on the LSD so the spline won't fully engage (or so I have been led to believe). You need to find a non-lsd flange type diff to swap them over.

As above thats what ive done with mine they do come up on the bay now and again

Right so I need another diff, non lsd with lobro outputs or 1 long output shaft. Anyone got a knackered diff or just an odd output shaft knocking around?

I have a pair of them, complete with the circlips. Regards Ray

3.38 diff all cleaned up and painted. Chippys output shafts cleaned, painted and fitted. 3.62 diff removed and replaced with nice shiny 3.38. First run out this afternoon of 50 miles or so and I am well happy.

Out of interest, how come you didn't just make a 3.3 LSD? Dont like the LSD, or it's borked anyway?

Liam,

I am going to see how this one goes for the summer and if i decide i prefered the LSD i will whip it out and do it over the winter.

First impressions are that the new one is alot tighter than the LSD which has quietened the gearchange down. It has also brought the revs down quite a bit which will make it a bit more pleasurable over a long run.

Cheers Kev
