I am in Canada. We drive on the right as does the majority of the world, although here in Quebec a lot of people tend to drive on the left - just for
fun I guess.
Silly question I have yet to find an answer for:
Can I use an Escort rack from the olde country and flip it over to use as a left hand drive?
You can, but the wheels will turn the opposite way to the steering wheel.
It might take some getting used to!

Might not pass inspection then, is what you are saying.
How about a BMW Mini LHD rack? Would that fit a regular book frame without modification? Welding the rack is a no no here, so I am trying to avoid
that, as well as avoid spending $400 US for one from a frame maker.

i would just buy a quick ratio one from the UK..
its then new, and saves the hassle of reinventing the wheel..

You might want to get on http://locostusa.com/forums/index.php and do a search for "rack".
Cheap + nasty = u/j the steering wheel over to the 'wrong' side!
lets do that!!
or get a bearing and 2 sprockets
and a bit of chain!!
Tks

To get back to some sort of sensible
Why do you want to use an Escort rack? Do you have a set of Cortina (or Stellar) uprights and you're building exactly to the book? If not then
why torture yourself. There are a vast multitude of vehicles with R&P steering out there. Work out what size rack you need to fit the chassis
you're building and the uprights you're using. For instance, in my mid-engined car, I'm using a Gemini (Chevette to you) rack because;
I'm using Gemini uprights; and it fit's my (wide) chassis design. The only real trade-off is the lack of fast-ratio kits like the Escort
one has.
So, state your donor details and ask the question again.

or use a chevette rack, quick racks available. not sure of canadian model name though...
in my opinion you want a quick rack on a seven and I don't think they come any cheaper as the escort ones that Rally design sell (mention earlier
by someone). I have used them on both my sevens and can only recommend them.
I'm sure you need more stuff so if you buy in one go the extra transport cost shouldn't be too bad.
