I have measured from the bottom of the chassis rail to the top of the chassis rail in the engine bay as near as possible to the scuttle and it is 35cm.

ok great, is it the same heigh from there back to the scuttle, i believe from the scuttle back it drops, so i assume the chassis rails are parallel from the front to the back of thescuttle?

It is a bit tricky to check but it very much looks like the top and bottom chassis rails are parralell from the front of the scuttle along to the bottom edge of the dash, then they start to close towards the rear.

i was under the impression the indy had 14" sides to fit a pinto, whereas a locost has 13" sides.

the side rails are parallel from the front to the back of the scuttle where they drop towards the back arch.
