Which rivnut tool / what size rivnuts?
I'm about to start on bodywork, and need a rivnut tool. Anyone got any recommendations for where to get one, and are M6 rivnuts big enough to
hold scuttle and nosecone on? Also, steel or ali rivnuts?
Cheers
Adrian

I used tool from Memfast(www.memfast.co.uk ) which is excellent.
My nose cone is held by 7 x 6mm aluminium and the scuttle is held by 4 x 6mm aluminium plus about 8 x 4mm where the firewall meets the engine
compartment and 6 x 4 mm where the dash is fixed to the horizontal part of the firewall (if that makes sense )
I'm addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop anytime.

The memfast tool is good but if you don't use it for a few weeks it goes a bit rusty. Have to keep oiling it up
Far better than the squeezy type though!

Ali are easy to set, and easy to strip. Steal are harder to set and difficult to strip, and weigh more. I have 2*M6 and 4*M6 on hinges holding the
nose on (both aluminum, non-countersink ones).
Scuttle has 6*M6 (but only using 4 at moment and this seems enough even with a screen).
Bigger than M6 and the holes get quite large in the tube so would not recommend M8.
I have a lot of M4's holding on internal paneling in stead of rivets where they may need removing from time to time.
Sourced a lot of rivenuts from e-bay (was cheapest at the time, also check out CBS, and the other kit car suppliers, primary fastners might be worth a
ring as well).
