welding questions for pedals

I almost have my pedal hangers sorted out. The problem is the hanger braketts are much heavier guage than what they need to be welded to 3/16 to 1/16. I dont trust my mig to weld it and I dont trust my stick welding not to blow holes through the 1/16, I figured I should be able to braze the brakects on since there is alot of surface area to weld to an nothing is in single shear to be brazed, at least with the brazing I can concentrate the heat on the heavy part andjust enough on the frame tubes.
Does this sound reasonable.

It all sounds reasonable but I think you are worrying too much, I wouldn't hesitate to weld 3/16" to 1/16" with the mig, you just need to keep the heat onto the thicker piece, not tricky with the mig if you go slowly.
