what problems if any are there in using a mk1 or 2 escort van as donor? will find a dam donor car or irs drawing which have dimensions and wishbone information before long i hope. still keeps bt happy as if i cant get on with thing in the garage iam keeping there profits up with all this time on the net.

Escort van bits can be used but diff ratio is a bit low,why u want irs drawings if your using escort power?

looking at donor options cant find escort very easy may have to use sierra

Yeah, I started off by looking for an escort, but soon came to the conclusion that a sierra is going to be much easier to source.

I also figured that if I need to get any parts, sierra parts will be easier to get my hands on too.

If you want to use a Sierra donor but keep to the book plans I have an Escort axle for sale. Use the Sierra engine and gearbox and the rest should be fairly similar.
