tig welding

brought a new toy over easter

and had a 10 min intro to tig by type 907
( cheers paul )

having set it all up heres a piccy of the first attempts

Hi, looks a lot better than my first attempt, is it an inverter type youve got or the propper TIG set? Ive just got an inverter but found it drank one of those hobby bottles of argon in about 15 mins, is yours anything like that??

What size rod are you using? Does someone help you to lift them? Try this.

I love TIG welding- have only done it with steel but I intend to learn Stainless/ali pretty soon.

Timf, where did you get your kit from? And how much?

Sorry about that, on my screen the weld in your picture is 5" across. I used TIG many years ago on 16g boiler frames but I doubt if I would have the coordination for it now. I used oxy-acetylene for a long time, still have a portapak in the shed but the mig rendered it redundant.
