Book chassis mods for sierra donor
OK after spending the last few weekends looking round scrapyards and being laughed at when asking for escort/cortina bits ive decided to go with
sierra donor parts.
I managed to get the steering wheel, column, rack, uprights with disks etc and the the diff, shafts, hubs et al for the sum of £50.
Ok so modding the book plans, i might buy the bones but if decide to make them i assume i can just extend the bones by 2inch each side to match the
extra length of the rear axle. Now i was planning to move the shock linakge close to the ball joint , i assume i can just move the linkage point up to
keep it on the same radius as the original design?
Steering rack, can i actually use the seirra steering rack? i mean i appreciate that i would have to modify the mounting brackets, but would their be
any mods requires the the rack itself?
Ill be using the sierra uprights and ill be buying the insert adaptor for the top ball joint.
Edit: ok after some searching it seems i have to chop 5inch out the middle of the rack

the local companies can do the rack for you quite cheaply if you choose to move the coilover points, you can either modify the top mounting to
match or find a longer spring. Shouldnt be too much of a problem.
