newbie qustiones
Hi! Just started to make some planing and dreaming about my own locost. Ordered the book. it will take around 4 weeks to arrive so meanwile i will try
to gather some info here. Sierra is almost inposible to find in my country so what about alfa 75 1.8? I can get one of these wery cheep. Around 200
euro or less. What sort of modification woud that mean? I have several CNC machines on my disposal so making different parts wount be a problem. Does
somebody have cortina upright drawings as as i would have to make them from scratch. No cortinas in my country either.  So far i managed to put
book chassis in CAd along with rorty IRS. But hawing trouble with front suspension. Different drawings on net so i¨m litle confused. Any help? No
experience in suspension so i want to stick with book.

Serously if you do a search on here you will find Rorty's plans for DIY uuprights to directly replace Cortina ones.
Also doesn't the new book have plans for DIY uprights?

here's my MK's (old version), I have added a brace for the roll bar stay and cleaned up the image to remove the fuel tank supports.
It's very strong and uses less tubes than in you CAD drawing. Hopefully at will be of some help...never know

I have just spent about half an hour looking for Rorty's plans with no luck  . Does anyone know where to find them?

Theres a fair bit of info on my site that you may find useful.
As for upright designs, i dont think rorty ever published the designs. I think he sold them (may be wrong) to MNR who were making some fabricated
steel uprights. However from the drawng posted in the other thread you could fabricate your own cortina upright without much problem using either

The buying the aluminium hubs and whatever else you like really. I might draw up a design when I get time.

Just found Ford taunus 12M coupe for sale. Only 10 Euro.
1968, 1300 engine. Is this car to go?
Just mailed the owner, see if the price is right, as ther is another for 2000 euro.

Thanks David - hope you have lots of time soon .
Unfortunately given the exchange rate of Rands to Pound and postage (never mind the risk of mail theft ) and import duty it is not at all
affordable to import anything from England and is generally much cheaper to have the items such as Aluminium hubs and steel stubs turned up by skilled
artisans here from proper drawings.
It would also be cool to use a more common wheel bolt pitch than the Ford one that opens up a whole plethora of wheels to choose from.

it turns out that this ford taunus 12M is FWD.
So back to alfa 75.

Have you worked out the rear ground clearance with mine I found it necessary to mount the lower wishbone pivots on the side of the bottom tubes to get
a sensible road clearance,

Dont know about ground clearance. Not so far with my design yet.
Just bought my donor car today, 2.0 DOHC Sierra.
