Introduction to Sprinting - FREE

Hello All

As most of us on here have got cars that are very well suited to this sport, thought this may be of interest - certainly it should be

I've no connection with the club, just did one of these days a few years ago and it was brilliant. Learnt loads and have been injoying my weekends doing sprints (& the odd hillclimb) since. Certainly helped me, and can recommend it 100% to anybody who has even thought about giving speed events a bash.

And of course see www.curborough.co.uk for more details of how to get there etc etc.

Looks interesting (anything for a freebie )

Suspect you'll only get 1 run or so on the circuit?

Format when I did it was:-

Driven round by an instructor in their car, very steadily to show you how it works, where to go etc.

Driven round by the instructor, a bit brisker...

I drove round in my car with instructor alongside, pointing out the way, fairly steadily.

Another bash, this time allowed to push on a bit more.

Feedback from instructors etc etc

Though I guess that will depend on how many turn up.

Did anyone else go???

I got there about 12.30 and was the last person allowed to sign on, 7 batches of 13 apparently. started at 1.30 with a chat about sprinting and hill climbing, followed by a chat about licences, then the scrutineers explained waht they were looking for . Then we went to the top of the track.

We got into members cars (3 per car) and were driven round the track, slowly first to show us braking oints apex's etc, then a bit quicker. Then we had 2 go's in our own cars with a member (Instructor?) next to us.

My "buddy" carl, was very helpful, explained where i could have gone faster after the first lap and what bits i had done OK in.
The second lap was much better, still it all happenes so quickly its a very tight track compared to a normal circuit.

best bit was feeling the back end move around on the final corner (hairpin?)

very tempted to get a licence and enter a few trials next year. most interesting part was if you join the shenstone & district car club (Who run the place) you can rent the track for a day, about £130!!

this event happens each year, i did it about 4 years ago as well, definitely recommended for next year!!
