nope, You'll get a P45 which shows your earnings upto tehe point you leave employment.

You then give this to your new employer, or you can complete a P46 if you don't have a P45 (or don't want your new employer to know your old salary!)

Did not get a P45 and wasnt asked to fill in a P46 so P60 only shows the amount from when employment started with new employer. Is that a problem when it comes to renewing income support?

can you ask them for your P45? some places out source their wages so it could take a couple of weeks? assuming of course that you were "employed" ie not self emplyed or cash in hand.
remember if you have paid tax the taxman knows about it and will chase you to the ends of the earth if you have unerpaid!
hope the new job is better :-)

Nope, what will happen usually is that you will be taxed at an "emergency" tax rate until it is sorted out (I think something like 3 months I was told before) then at the end of the tax year you can claim for a rebate of any overpayments.

It may be different now though. If you do find your old P45 (your previous employer must IIRC give you one) then give that to your new personell department.

Are you talking about tax credits when you mean income support? From what I remember its self declaration of earnings so its up to you to get it right.

So when re applying for income support they should be able to see what my previous ernings were and how much tax i have paid andwork figures out from that.

Some employers try to hold back P45's, just to be arses.

It's against the law for them to hold them back.

This year I got 2 P60s and a P45 as I've changed from contract to staff with one company and then started another job with another company....... it's a huge pain in the ar*e regarding family tax credit as the P60 I got from the people who paid me while I was on contract (via an umbrella company) only shows the amount of money I paid tax and national insurance on (as opposed to the bit I paid company tax on)....... then Mrs Beddows told the family tax people how much I actualy eaned in total....... as they seem incapable of getting their figures right when it's straightforward I suspect I'm going to struggle

No help to you I know but it's good to get these things off your chest

If your previous employer is withholding your P45 tell them you are getting in touch with the Inland Revenue , that should get them moving.
