Hi,

This may be my own fault for fitting Cortina lower ball joint’s to the lower wishbones, but my front wheels will not go level with the ground. Think its all negative camber. When I try to get it level I then run out of thread on the transit upper ball joint. I had to fit Cortina uprights to fit the 5 stud wheels…

So question is what does every one else have or am I going to have to modify the wish bones, tisk.

Any ideas???

You have to use Austin Maxi ones and get the taper in the frot hub modified,

I thought the Cortina had four stud too!

But anyway... it's your top wishbone that will be wrong as the off-set between top and bottom BJ is different between Sierra and Cortina upright.

I guess you need a shorter top wishbone!

I cant recall any cortinas having five stud hubs, only the P100 pick up which used granade hubs i'm sure.

I am thinking they must be granada hubs.

Ok just had a look in your archive and scorpio caliper kinda gives it away,you just need the correct dodnor parts and you will be fine.

I will certainly look into the maxi part instead, I have a pillar drill so should be able to do the mod myself if it comes to that, thanks Steve.

You are all correct of course about cortina's having 4 studs

Fortunatly the front hub from the Granada fits the upright and that has 5. Plus the rear sierra hub also is the same fitting as the Granada one. All very handy and big thanks to my good friend Graham for sorting out all the bits out for me so many years ago! even got me the limited slip diff

Do you have the kit to drill a tapered hole?
And I was presuming you were using Sierra hubs.

No I don't have the correct angled tapered reamer but there’s a good tool factor down the road. There's also inserts you can buy to do this job, common on lowered beetles where you move the track rod from the top to the bottom.

Still got at least one nice sierra hub kicking about plus to the two offset balljoint adaptors if anyone wants them
