BIKE ENGINE CHANGE

hi everyone
i am thinking of changeing my 919 fireblade engine for a new 180 bhp r1 or a 1000cc fire blade. does anyone know whether my exhaust manifold will fit the 1000cc fireblade, that might save me cost if i went for that one. i have gone off the haya busa for expense reasons

any help would be great

cheers that clears that up, i didn,t think they would be the same,

i think the r1 sounds good then, i,ve heard people have had trouble fitting the 1000cc fireblade in anyway due to its height,

i will probably have some one do the engine change for me anyway depending on cost, does anyone of someone who does this in the north west area,

cheers

Not wanting to put you off the engine change idea but what sort of performance increases are you expecting? Best you'll get on a quarter mile sprint with an R1 instead of a 919 Blade is gonna be about half a second.

If you want to go quicker on trackdays and reduce your lap times, your money will probably be better spent getting your Indy set up professionally (assuming you haven't done so already).

Seems like a lot of expense for a relatively small increase in power IMHO.

And for the same spend you could just supercharge your existing engine to get the same if not a little more power.

Supercharging will cost more than twice as much And then there's the reliability issues................

does the new r1 engine rely on ram air principals rather than just a better higher bhp engine? leading onto the fact that recreating ram air on a stock airbox under a bonnet facing 90 degrees the wrong way would not allow you to acheive this.

i would look at set up, tyres and training over an engine replacement unless you go busa zxr1400 ect

You'll not be able to go fast enough in a seven to gain any benefit from the effects of ram air.

Just to disagree entirely with the chaps above. I went from a 919 blade to an R1 (5PW) on my old car and it was like chalk and cheese. The r1 was faster two up than the blade ever was. It felt much stronger.

However, if I was going to do the same again I would sell the blade car and buy an R1 car. The price to change is about the same, if not better.
