headlight replacement
Hi
I am replacing the headlights and I have managed to get the wiring through the arm that the headlight bolts onto. My problem is what tool is used to
tighten the headlight ? As i cannot use a socket as the wire comes out from under the bolt and I cant use a spanner as the bolt is too deep into the
recess.
has anyone a clue of what I mean????

I know EXACTLY what you mean!
I cut the arm so that it no longer had a recess and then drilled a hole in a nut cover, fed the wire through the nut cover and then put it in
place.

what do you mean by the nut cover?
My wires come out of the bottom of the thread that the nut goes over .
I assume that if you cut the recess down then you will be able to just get it with the spanner working at an angle?

You could also pad the underside of the headlamp with washers to allow for a spanner to tighten the nut (Albeit at an angle)
Would need to be VERY tight though!

I used a sparkplug socket, the type that has a hexagon on the top of it. just poke the wires through then tighten using socket and spanner.

Thats a good idea Steve - If I'd heard that before I'd done mine, I would of done it that way - as it happened mine were already wired in
and I couldn't do it that way.
I cut a notch out of an old socket and used that.

John, I sacrificed an old offset ring spanner. I ground a slot in it to allow me to slide it over the wires and it reaches up and allows me to tighten
the nut. Although the strength of the spanner is compromised I havn't managed to break it despite using enough force to really tighten the
mounting.

Hi
got the lights off and the sparkplug spanner trick works a treat BUT when you tighten it up thast blocks the hole that you then need to send the wires
down?
If you send the wires down first, you cant tighten the nut unless you have a very thin open ended spanner?
Should i just grind a spanner down?
