Hi all,

I have got a Ford xflow 1.3 in an ex locost race car that I bought last year and currently use for track days.

I need to replace the electronic ignition system, but are not sure which particular one I need to buy.

The engine number is. 7hm.6015.aa and so I wondered if there was a way of finding out which engine I’ve got. I.e year etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I am assuming that is 711m and not 7hm ... Various sites suggest it's post 1970 ... see for example https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1374897

That 711m number is block casting number, the last 2 letters indicate 1300 or 1600 blocks, aa or or ab (or is it ba) . 1600 block being about 30mm taller. So yours is 1300.

Engine number is stamped on a flat section, exhaust side near front and comprises two letters and 4? numbers.

The letters indicate month/year and you need to look it up, e.g. Burton Power catalogue. Numbers have no significance other than being unique to an engine.

... But you probably know all this by now.

you have a 1300 x/flow....anything not block/crank related will fit from any other ford x/flow engine.

the igntition system you need to buy is related to your dizzy, not the engine.

and if you want to make things easy, buy this one:

or give those guys a call

Thanks for your help guys, thats a great help.

I'm also seeking a bit of advice reference the electronic ignition system, which I'll post under a new more relevant topic.

Thanks,
