It's a wise idea to mount the underside of the rectifier to unpainted metal (probably aluminium) to transfer as much heat as possible away from
the rectifier - this will help prolong it's life.
The uprated ones are supposed to be a good job though.
All the best

As Ali says, make sure its mounted to something metal to dissipate the heat, and also consider putting a fan on top. I used an old Athlon PC fan on top of mine and it lasted the life of my blade install (3 years)
I blew mine up this weekend and am fitting a rplacment this weekend. I assumed that the 3 alternator yellow wires can be connected in any order to the
upper pins on the rectifier since they are all the same colour. Is this correct?
I don't want to see smoke coming from my rectifier again this weekend!
Good old ebay... one shud arrive by weekend £50 inc postage..
thanks for all the info chaps
Exactly the same issue on my CBR!
Think I should go in to the rectifier supplier business - seems to be a roaring trade!

...but why can you not run two rectifiers in parallel if they are so susceptible to failure?
