Now my diff is nice and quiet I can hear the next loudest thing. This is 3rd gear, all the others are fine. To those of you in the know what is the probable cause? Should I be immediatly worried about it? I don't really want to touch it till the winter if poss as its bloody hot at the moment and its great driving it along the coast and on track days.
Tricky to say to be honest, if its noticably noisier in that gear than the others it would suggest that the gears themselves are worn. As you probably
know whiney gears can go on for ages and not cause a problem, but then again if its worn a lot it could start breaking up leaving you with bits of
gear getting digested by the rest of the engine which isnt good.
Id suggest giving Andy at AB Performance a call (01284 703101) as he'll be able to give a good answer and certainly wont recommend work if it
doesnt need doing.
Chris
When you say 3rd gear, is that when selecting 3rd or when running in 3rd? Under load or not? Got no idea myself yet, but we know a little about gears
having changed a few in our 'blade.
Its noisy running in 3rd under load and also not under load. I have been continplating changing the engine in the winter for a ZX12R so it woould be
nice if it lasted to then. Hellfire what sort of cost was your engine?
I know the manifold would have to be changed and probably the loom. But I need more speeeeed
How many BHP is the standard engine??
Engine's are ranging from £1500 to £2500 depending on age/mileage. Then there's baffling or drysumping. Then cradle. Loom. Side panel if it
cant be modified. Chopped sump. not to mention the avon has a low bonnet so I doubt you'de get a Kwak in
On the bike it has 200 bhp with ram
pipes in the car without ram you're talking about 185~190. But with so much torque it's awesome.
who needs a bonnet anyway?
Steve,
There's an Avon for sale on Ebay with a ZX12R engine fitted. (Item no.4578974402 )
So it proves that It CAN be done on an Avon!
Andy.
