After advice - I've found an Indy for sale with a CBR1000 (87-88)

All looks in v.good nick, anything I should look out for/be weary of?

Cheers,
James.

Mine has an 89 engine but I guess this applies:

Check for clutch slip - mine and others have slipped badly with standard clutch.

Check oil level/usage.

Check cooling system as is complex compared to some other bikes.

Good luck!

Basicall a bulletproof engine so should not go far wrong, only real things I can think of on top of the usual things when looking at a prebuilt kit are:

- This is quite an early engine (Top coolant pipes will probably exit at the back of the engine rather than at the side of the head) so maybe prone to camchain wear. When viewing make sure the engine is cold when started.
- check what ratio diff is fitted unless you are running large wheels & non low profile tyres they really need at least a 3.38 diff (Preferably a 3.14) to get any kind of top end.
- Check how the clutch has been mounted as can be difficult job to do right on the CBR.
