does anyone know if the 2001 R1 has the same mountings as a 99 r1?

they are both carbed, but im guessing since the 2001 is the next model on that they'll have fiddled with it....

I *fairly sure* they are the same but the thread of the mounting bolts changed slightly. The 2002/3 injection does have slightly modified mounts though.
