WHICH IS THE BETTER ENGINE FOR BEC? ZZR1100 C1 OR ZX9R C2? I KNOW THE ZZR ENGINE I HAVE IS THE UNRESTRICTED 140 ODD BHP VERSION BUT WHAT POWER/TORQUE IS THE ZX9?
I nearly bought a ZZR1100 engine. In my opinion, the slightly wider spaced gears are ideal for a BEC. It was only the age of the engine that put me off. The ZX9 is a bit lacking in grunt. You might as well just have a pinto.
Keep the ZZr1100 , it has more torque than the ZX9 and there are plenty of tuning its for it as it was used by Radical before they went to the Busa.
Both are good engines, but I bet you'll enjoy the 1100 more.
Cheers

CHEERS FOR THAT! WIFE WILL BE HAPPY, I JUST GOT THE ZZR N GOT ME EYE ON A ZX9 LOL

Me too, slightly more pokey than a blade and there's no way anything short of a fully breathed on (ie 180-200bhp) Pinto would get anywhere close, let alone keep up. The only real downside to the ZX9 IMHO, is the gearbox, both its low ratios and the weakness of the boxes in the earlier engines.
if you look in the manual, you can see the extra bearings they added to the E gearboxes. On the plus side, C engines are cheap as chips.
Just for curiosity, are the C and E boxes interchangable?!
Just a guess but I doubt it, if the later ones have extra bearings along the shafts then wouldnt the bearings need something in the block to sit in / bolt to?
