Throttle bodies
Hellfire - 29/10/05 at 08:39 PM

What is it with the car engine boys nicking our throttle bodies for their car engines? Do you think that deep down they yearn for a bike engine but are too frightened to admit it?

This is specifically aimed at BEC boys, cos lets face it, the car engine blokes shouldn't be reading posts in the BEC section (unless of course they have a desire deep down for a BEC)

So what do you think?

Ive already got a blade engine but enjoy working on the car as much as driving it , so am keeping the crossflow and fitting it with gpz1100 throttle bodies and megasquirt injection. When it blows up I might fit the blade engine if i havent put in in something else before hand.

Ok I admit it I would like to put bike throttle bodies on my pinto

There you go I said it

I happen to know that people used to put car carbs on bikes to make them go faster...

Not any more though

There you go Mark. I bet you feel a whole lot better now...... like a massive weight being lifted from your shoulders

You are on the road to recovery - thats the main thing. The next step is "well, when I bought the throttle bodies, there was an engine attached to em, which seemed just too good to waste"

Never mind though, at least you're half way out of the closet. And thats a big step.

Thats todays therapy session over with. Same time again tomorrow?.............

I thought everyboy knew the answer to this...

You evaluate the whole unit then decide which bits are actually worth using. Discard the rest

My individual throttle bodies are supplied on the engine (4AGE 20V) from the factory as all engines should be!

Hmmm. Bimbleuk, judging by your comments above, I'd say you're gonna need quite a lot of therapy.

You're currently in the denial stage but don't worry, I think I can see a chink in your armour

What about a pair of DCoe's on bike engine. I can't see any reason why not...? Someone must have done it.

I wanted to put bike carbs on my hillman imp back in 1980 but everyone told me it wouldnt work, i was going to use a set from a honda 750. I wish i had of done instead of sticking to the twin strombergs it had fitted.

Yup....lurking with intent

Seriously, I did consider converting my Fury to being Bike-engined but decided that it would be best to build a BEC from scratch - designed for the job rather than butchered to lighten.

Busy collecting bits.....

G.Man - 30/10/05 at 04:41 PM

Nah theres just lots of cheap throttle bodies on ebay due to BAB's crashing and writing off their engines

FlansS14 - 30/10/05 at 07:12 PM

What are you lot chattin about!!!!

Bike throttle bodies are £120 and its piece off wee to make an inlet...

jenvey's or omex are £500+

does that give you a better idea why people do!!!!!

Hellfire - 31/10/05 at 12:32 PM

Guess you voted for the third option then?

FlansS14 - 31/10/05 at 07:24 PM

well it makes sence don't it....

billy - 31/10/05 at 08:28 PM

Well im converted when they make an affordable car engine that revs to 13 grand, and weighs fook all, and sounds so sweet.........ill go back to one

Taz Surfleet - 3/11/05 at 09:55 PM

What about those who have a foot in both camps?

Taz Surfleet - 3/11/05 at 10:03 PM
