I have one if not two inlet valves in trouble in No 4;
Can you tell me the do s n donts involved.
Should i take the head to be done for me or
is it a job i can tackle?
Plus the best place for parts.
Ash, there's a couple of cylinder heads on ebay at the mo' and cheap too!
Item no.s 8010118674 and 8011350616
(Someone more clever than I will be able to do a link, no doubt.)
Alternatively, it might be worth giving Andy Bates a call at AB Performance for advice as he is an expert on the 'blade engine. Tel 01284
703101.
Provided you've got a Haynes manual and a 'motorcycle' type torque wrench, (one with a low torque setting range) then I would've
thought you should be able to do the job yourself.
Andy.
I flogged my blade heads for around £50 each so it would probably be more more economical to buy a second hand one like those Andrew has highlighted
assuming they are good!
You'd still want a Haynes manual to guide you so you get all the cam timing etc right when refitting, but should be a DIY job.
Its not a job to be frightened of i have enjoyed every bit of it so far just got to put it back together..

All back together but got a problem..
Number 4 on reving blows fuel back n soaks the air filter. She does not rev freely under 4000rpm over that its fine. I put std can back on thinkin it
dont like the race one but to no avail any clues!
Think ive got it had the carbs
off n found two things all my trouble
has been in No.4 pot. With the carbs
off lookin at the inlet valves 1,2 n 3 are wet
with fuel 4 dry as a bone... found the accelerator pump diaphram was hagin out its
hsg + only found the choke slide is bent n has been holdin No.4 choke partly on
At long last got my bike chap
to bring along the tappet shim
box 4 hrs later sorted!Dont think
she has ever ran on all four properly
thought the thing was fast before but now
. Grindin shims down is no fun always
the size your after the box is empty of.
Well happy for Xmas now
Well done you got there in the end!

Looks like fun
