i have been planning on using the civic radiator and fan assembley that i have plumbed in and wired in..but on trial fitting of the nosecone it seems that it not going to fit.
i have a injection mini cooper rad and fan that i can retro fit its about half the size of the civic.. any good

Really, mine worked fine. Was yours too wide? If so, you grabbed the wrong one. If it's too tall, perhaps you can slant it back a bit.
