Evening fellas. My half witted brother has over torqued the sump plug on his Suzuki 600 SRAD and it looks like it's irrepairable. Can anyone tell
me the best place to pick one up on-line? (new/used, not fussed)
Cheers, Russ.
What's ruined, the sump housing or the plug? The plug is easy to replace, and the sump can be repaired with a "helicoil".
He says he's cracked either side of the housing. I still haven't had a chance to see it for myself yet, but I'll try and get a pic if you think it's MIGable?
Unless its steel it wont really be MIG-able, but ally sumps can easily be TIG welded, you should be able to find a local fabricator who will happly
weld it up for not a lot of cash but if you get stuck gimme a shout.
The only problem may come if he's actually clumped the sump plug which has broken out through the side of the ally, in which case you'd need
the area built back up then probably a new drain plug drilled and tapped

I'm not sure if the 600s are the same as the 1000s, but you should be able to unbolt the whole sump plate and get a new one from a breakers or
eSkip. Why bother messing about paying someone to weld it which may still leak or warp the plate if this is the case?
In fact, have a look at this....

hate to say I told you so!
Cheers guys, appreciate the replies but she's a goner. It's cracked right open. He's just been made redundant so I said I'd see if
a Locost solution was available. Maybe Santa will empty his sack in his direction
Thanks anyway.
