Cant get to my haynes manual as im at work, was wondering if anyone new of the fan switch cut in and cut out temps on a 1997 rrv fireblade?

Or a alternative fan switch to use with my rad?

Its quite high, I cant remember exactly but my old one with the blade rad never kicked in until over 100c. I just put in a manual override which I switched on in traffic and after a track session and left the thermostatic fan switch as a backup, my theory is that if you know its going to get hot its better to kick the fan in ASAP and try to keep the temps cool rather than letting it get hot then trying to cool it back down again.

thanks, looked into a sensor which cuts in at 92 and cuts out at 82, so that would probably be ok

Why do you need it to kick in earlier out of interest?

no reason really just as you said once the temp starts to get hot the sooner the fan comes in the better,

Putting in a lower temp switch shouldnt cause a problem though, the only potential issue with that that I can see is that depending on setup you might find your fan comes on virtually all the time when running the engine hard (ie the engine wants to run at ~90c). At speed the fan coming on wont make a significant difference to the engine running temperature (the phrase "fart in a hurricane" springs to mind) but keep an eye on your battery levels as the combination of a small battery and small alternator means you havent got a huge power surplas so it might start going flat if its on all the time.

Good point, i am going to have a over-ride switch so i can run the fan when on the track, and in traffic etc as you said,
i will go for a fan switch sender with a higher temp, any suggestions

You don't want it running too low a temperature either as this has negative effects on the plugs and valves.

Why not run it at the temperature it was designed for??

I looked in my haynes manual and the only temp it gives in there is the thermostat fully open temp which is 95 oC
so i'll be getting a fan switch that cuts in obviosly above this temp.

Wat sender did you use on your blade build mr hellfire?

Can anyone recommend a fan temp switch they have used with the blade engine as i am having difficulty in finding one that is suitable, i have established that the blade stat is fully open at 95 o C so am i right in thinking that i need the fan to come in after this say around 100 o C??
