Does anyone have a rough guide on what the torque should be for the four M8 bolts which hold the prop flange onto the sprocket adapter? Mine is the R1 version (where the adapter is threaded, as there isn't enough room for nylocs on t'other end).

I suggest that you lockwire the bolt caps. You will neet to drill them and buy some lockwire pliers. That way you can be sure that they won't come undone.

Mine are socket cap head 12.9 grade bolts. I have used spring washers and Locktite 539. Then did them up as tight as I could with an extended allen key. Lastly I maked them with bright nail varnish so that I can regularly check if any were to undoing (they never were). Never had any come loose on either mine or my mates fireblade engined cars in a combined 45k miles.

If you can / want to then I agree lock wire is best

Just a pain drilling everything especially hardened 12.9 bolts

K nuts were recommended to me although I havent yet got round to fitting them



They are basically similar to a normal nut but one end is slightly ovalised, so as the bolt goes through the nut, its gripped tighter and tighter by the nut. They are used a fair bit on race cars when you dont want things to come loose, but cant use threadlock or nylocks because of heat etc.

Binx nuts are another variation on the theme and are what Westfield do (or did 2 years ago) supply for props and what I have fitted at the moment, but they aren't quite as reliable as K nuts, so Im told.

i think im gonna get some of those nuts or lock wire the bolts because recently i've been paranoid of them coming undone,i dont know if its just me but every time i go out im sure i can here another different noise,maybe i am just paranoid and feel guilty of all the thrash its been getting

lol... if its any comfort i used a screwdriver with a torx bit in it to tighten mine, with a blob of thread lock. It hasnt come undone yet anyway
