Hi all.

As previously said, as soon as I connect the Main switch and kill switch the starter starts, even without grounding the Start Switch.

What I've done:
1. cut the red/blue cable that goes from the fuse box to the backup circuit (the fuse blown as soon as I connected the loom to the battery, as it was connected to a black (ground) one!!! factory mistake?!?!)



2. I connected the bike loom to the battery

3. I connect the main switch (red/brown)


4. Connected the Black to Blue/Yellow (Cluth to CDI)


5. Connected the Red / Black to Red / White (Kill Switch


As soon as I do this the started goes off! And I didn't even connected the Start Switch (Blues / White)




I checked that the blue / white is not connected to ground due to a short somewhere.

HELP!!!!

Hi Joao,

It sounds like you have activated the starter relay by some means. Earth to the starter relay is supplied via the relay assembly - start checking around here to see why you have a permenant earth on the blue/white wire to the starter relay.

The engine won't start as the ECU does not see the earth from the start switch - hence won't fuel the car.

Hi Paul.

It seems that it's what I got to trace down... forgot to say, though, that I don't have a fuel pump attached, but the connector gets powered!

As Paul says the starter relay gives an earth to the motor so I would suggest to get a multimeter and check for continuity back from the starter motor.

ie

Disonnect the battery

Disconnect the starter earth.

Earth one wire on the mutimeter (eg to the battery earth lead) then check continuity starting at the starter earth then follow back to the relay then to the starter switch.

At some point you should find that the relay is being earthed. This should only be via the start button.

The first thing is that I was using the wrong wire as starter (never mind... not even related to the problem...)

I've been checking the loom and someone had been tempering it for sure!!!
vetween the ECU and Starter Cut Off relay Relay there was a few (6 - 8?) black wires joined together with some solder on it.

Guess what? the ECU to Relay was connected there too, making permanent the grounding of the starter.

Isn't this the place where the Cycle Lock usually is? I wonder what else is not connected properly...

And worse... What damage has been done to the starter?!

Think you just need to find your scheme for the wireing loom, with that you can easyly check if yours is the same for the rest of it.

as long as de starter disengages when the engine is running their cant be much damage..

Sounds like someone cut an alarm/cyclelok out of the loom, and someone else thought they were all earths...

you are gonna need to back trace the wires and see where they all go...
