
Hi all.
In a fuel injected R1 (2003 in my case) what have you done to connect the fuel pump (Bosch high pressure):
. directly to the bike loom
. through a relay commanded by the bike loom
. permanently to the car loom
Does the ECU shut the fuel pump in some conditions, or keeps it always on?
(I have a car loom with an ignition operated connection to the fuel pump)

I have not done one of these myself, but I would recommend that the ecu controls the pump via a relay.
On a car, when the ign is first switched on, the pump runs until the fuel rail is pressurized then cuts out.
It then runs when you start the engine.
Any faults with the engine then shuts the pump down.
All of this is controlled by the ecu.

Fuel pump must be connected to bike loom, as the ecu switches it on and off...
if you dont do this you will not be able to get the fueling accurate..
If you want further info, ask Marc, he has experience of this issue..

max fuel pressure is limited only by the regulator fitted!!
not by switching it on and off!
the fuel pressure is stable in a injection system, and its comparator value is grabbed of the intake pressure.
sow no on and off, its only for safety, that in case of accident the fuel pump doesn´t go on with pumping..

As an aside (sorry Joao for hijacking the thread) on a carb bike should the pump run continually with 12v applied directly across it? Mine doesnt and
the contacts inside dont look like theyre clicking over properly. How can I test it cos its not filling the fuel filter up despite theyre being a 12v
feed from the ECU (for about 3 secs to prime, then again continually when cranking).
