I've started my R1 engine today, and the tank is getting pressurised so much it is forcing fuel past the seal on the tank breather.
I've noticed the fuel in the filter, pre pump, is very frothy, so is it likely that there is clamp too loose that's enabling air to be drawn
in? Other than this the engine is running fine, although for peace of mind it's subsequent runs have been with the filler off.

Make sure you have a two way breather on your tank.
I have discussed this before, but here it goes again!
When your fuel is drawn from the tank, air is drawn in from a breather to replace the fuel taken out.
But some of the fuel is returned to the tank from the fuel rail or carbs.
As the air cannot be pushed out when the fuel is returned to the tank, you end up with a pressure build up.
Try thinkautomotive for their 2 way breather valves. They still shut off the fuel if the tank is inverted.

It's a Think tank breather that's fitted . Better check it's 2 way.

Just take the breather out and blow/suck the valve. Make sure it is the right way up as well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the same problem as you on my car. I used the valve with the right angle in your link photo. I put it in the filler cap to replace the one way
flap valve that it came with. My tank is a nylon 'stock car' type from rally design. Sorted the problem easily. (my tank cap is behind a
locking petrol flap)

So would I, except the description says it lets air in and out.
