I want to fit a mocal oil cooler to the engine but what is the best way of fitting it into the oil gallerys.
has anyone done this??,
should i use a take off plate between the block and oil filter? if so do you know where i can get one.
thanks in advance.
Sean
Just out of interest Sean, why do you want to put an oil cooler on the ZX12R? Assuming the oil temp reading is quite high, whereabouts have you
mounted the temperature sensor?

Hi Guys
Firstly to helfire the engine seems to run hot i have not fitted any gauges to test the oil temp but want to get the car running cooler.
Already tried thinkauto they cannot help me said they would need to know thread size which i do not know. this is not a common item they have supplied
accorsing to them.
any other ideas how to get it running cooler? only reason i say this as a friend with a dax zx12 did some head damage as they seem to rum hot,
apparantly they also run hot in the bikes???.
Cheers
Sean
Sean, to be honest all 12's run hot. There are a few things you can do first though before stumping up for a full oil cooling system. First and
easiest, stick a bottle of water wetter in with your coolant. Secondly, try and duct as much air through your rad as possible and thirdly try to
eliminate hot air from under-bonnet. We did these three and it seems to run fine now even in very warm weather like today. Fit an over-ride switch
into your fan to kick it in sooner and for longer
We are currently in the process of fitting an oil pressure/temp gauge so we should know soon what temperatures the oil is reaching.

Hi Phil
Perhaps you could let me know where you plan to plumb in the oil pressure gauge as this is next on the list.
will try what you suggested first then take it from there.
thanks for the advise.
Neil is taking the zx12 to TTs next weekend to get RR tuned and mapped will let you know how he gets on.
Cheers
Sean
Getting it tuned properly will go some way towards cooling it down. We plumbed the pressure sender in with the original bike one, using a tee and
fitted the temperature sensor into the main oil gallery on the opposite side.

my mocal is located below the rad at the front of the car, then big fat wire looking pipes run the oil to the tank which is behind the engine
