First drive with a ZX12r
athoirs - 13/6/06 at 08:17 PM

First drive tonight in the Indy fitted with the ZX12r engine.. Wow it does pull a LOT more from lower down than the old fazer engine..and just keeps pulling and pulling!
The paddle shift seems to work fine .. just takes a bit of getting used to!

Just want to pass my thanks to Malc of Yorkshire engines a very helpful man and the guys at MK - all top blokes.

Was it worth it? Not sure yet I thought this would be a nice little winter project and this is June!

Still plenty of time for some sprints, Hillclimbs and track days yet

i was just wondering do you find that the extra power is worth the extra price of the zx12r (over an r1), concidering the need for a dry sump etc which would escalate the costs?

Need for a dry sump?........... Who told you that?

Phil

I'm interested in all this dry sump business...

I've been told that a well designed wet sump will suit most applications of these motors. (ZX12R, Busa... etc. Blackbird not included...)

Have you given your wet sump system a proper thrashing around a track yet Hellfire? Any oil surge problems?

Just curious...

Chris.

I am sure you can get a wet sump to work, but a dry sump is worth 15 odd bhp according to some of the sidecar guys I have spoken to..
