Had my Indy on the rolling road at Holeshot yesterday. Basically my car used to have a straight through Micron race can but it measured 112dBA at
Elvington which meant no track days for me!
So, on to e-Bay I go and pick up a GSXR1000 standard can for £7.50. I know it'll be a bit more restrictive, but I'm willing to take the hit
for now to get it on track until I get a great big can made up, probably over winter.
So next step was to get the carbs rejetted as it obviously wasn't happy now. So a trip to Holeshot Racing (a whole 1.5 miles from my work - poor
me!
)
Main jets were dropped from 132 to 128. Needles were already at the leanest setting so he could only lean them out slightly more by removing the
washer.
Anyhow, here's the plot: -
There is a rich spot around 5000rpm but the needles couldn't be leaned out any more. Now bearing in mind this exhaust has a small integral CAT,
I got 116bhp at the rear wheels from an 893cc Fireblade. Chris (the guy who does all the RR stuff at Holeshot) said that seemed rather good for an
893 and would expect more like 110. He put it down to the Tony Law headers I've got - nice equal-length thingies with a good bore.
I took a (probably rather dull) video whilst I was there, in case anyone want to see a car being thrashed on the rollers
Clicky Video Here
And a couple of pictures here
He was trying to sell me a turbo too! Said it was a nice tidy engine install and would suit it nicely
Though I think I'd better get used to
the car as it is first before making it mental :O
Good new for me as I got the same can for £15 off Ebay a few months ago for mine.
Peaking in the hole it looked a bit restrictive, however it looks identical to yours from the outside except that I can drop a coin through mine so no
CAT.

presumably the blue one is the early run and the red the final run looking at the times on the bottom of the sheet.
I SHOULD HAVE LOOKED PROPERLY
i think i'd be to scared to watch my car on a rolling road, theres so little keeping it falling of them rollers, the wheels spinning around only
a few cm's from the still ground.
maybe i'm just paranoide.
It is a bit scary watching a car spun up fully. Watched my mini being done from 3 feet away. Really mental watching it do 110 whilst sat still! Made
me realise just how loud it is too. I HAD to wear ear defenders!
Not for some silly H&S reason, just because it was too damn loud to comfortable
stand next to/anywhere near! I managed to stop work at the entire industrial estate! I was well happy!
apparently if a car jumps off the rollers it stalls? but id have thought it would have a fair bit of momentum to shoot a good few feet! depends how
powerfull the car is too i guess!
They do tend, apparently, to stop as the wheels hit the stationary floor and try to shoot forward, but the straps stop it moving, so the engine stops. Can't do any of it much good though.
it would stall as soon as you came properly off the throttle, that said, someone told me their car had jumped off the rollers once and had screamed
halfway to the far wall before it stopped! Shat himself
