Hi guys can you help put my mind at rest, I went for a spin tonight and picked up mate, gave the car a blast, when I got home pushed up on the drive
and I noticed the oil light was flickering whilst at idle, I think it went out when engine was rev'ed higher to about 1000 - 1200 ish, I have not
seen it flicker ever before and I am not sure if I am reading too much into it the engine seemed a little lumpy at idle, temp was about 90 ish, which
is hotter than norm but it was a warm night, is it simply the heat and the oil thinning? Is this a warning? If this was a car engine I would replace
the oil pres sensor, not so sure about the bike engine. Thanks in advance for any advice given. Jason oh yea oil press was low at idle between the 0
and lowest number think 30 psi on a ETB inst. I guess the real answer is check hayes man and check oil press at 2000rpm at recommended temp, Yes?

ive had mine as low as 15 psi at idle when really hot esp on track days . maybe your idle is a little slow should be 1100-1200 when hot .

i HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON MY STOCK BLACK BIRD, IT WASNT UNTIL i REMOVD THE SUMP THAT I FOUND WHERE SOMEONE HAD CHOPPED THE SUMP AND WELDED IT BACK UP THEY LEFT SOME DODGY WELD AND FILINGS IN THE SUMP, THESE WERE PICKED UP AN HELD ON THE OIL STRAINER WHICH WAS CAUSING THE LIGHT TO FLASH ON TICK OVER.
Are you using the standard oil pressure sensor, if not the low pressure warning light maybe set slightly different.

I think the standard Blade oil pressure light comes on at something like 7-8psi. Ive seen pressures virtually this low on my blade (and R1) after a
track thrash with oil temps over 100c, but I didnt have the standard light connected up as I had a proper gauge with warning light, so dunno if it
would have come on or not at that point.
Its probably nothing to worry about, as the others have said its probably a combination of slightly low idle and above normal temperatures meaning it
dropped a smidge lower than normal, but either way its well worth having a gauge attached so you can monitor oil pressure properly.

Thanks guys, I have run it up again the other night and watched everything, I have about 12 PSI @ 90 odd c @ around 1100 - 1200rpm, I raise the rev to 2000 rpm I get about 20 PSI. the light was not flickering this time at idle, I guess it was because it got hot and the revs dropped a tad.
