hi chris,
thanks for your reply , i wrote it down before, when you replyed but i lost it!! didnt know how to trace an old thread, do you kno what filter to use cheers

ChrisGamlin - 25/8/06 at 10:37 PM

Can't remember to be honest, I think my inline filter on the pressure side may be for an Astra, but a lot depends on what size fuel line you're using (mine is 8mm)

Do you use pre and post pump filters then??

ChrisGamlin - 26/8/06 at 08:57 AM

Yep, pre pump to stop any crap from the tank getting into the pump, and post pump just in case the pump itself starts to fail and sends bits of its internals down into the injectors etc. Obviously the pre-pump filter can be a simple clear plastic low pressure filter, but the post pump ones are usually ally/pressed steel case

For post pump I used a 2.0 focus fuel filter from halfords. 8mm in and out.

Pre pump is one of the little glass ones

ChrisGamlin - 26/8/06 at 11:16 AM

Ah actually Focus does ring a bell, mine's 8mm in/out too. It might be the pump itself thats installed in Astra (GTE's) amongst other things, making me think of that.

what pre filter is best?

adrian - 27/8/06 at 12:56 AM

chris, a bit of confusion with fuel pump part no.s
The pump you say is 0580 464 038 (rover v8)
Looked on rob collingdridges web page he brought one for a rover v8 0580 464 938? bit confused?

ChrisGamlin - 27/8/06 at 11:02 AM

I suspect one of us has typed the 9/0 wrong but if you google the number I posted, it does come up with a lot of Bosch fuel pump related links, if you google Rob's number it doesn't so I'd think his is probably wrong.

Chris

Depends on what inlet/outlet size you need for your tank hoses really, but any carb fuel filter (ie one of the clear plastic ones) that's used on a similar powered engine or above should be fine.

yep you are right as usual!! rob has put a 9 instead of 0 (no results when i googled it) the no. you gave me came up with a pump that has a pressure of 3 bar (43.5 p.s.i) ,again thanks very much!
