hi i think ive got a faulty tilt sensor , ive put a volt meter on the bue wire and yellow wire and im getting a reading of 3.9v, it says in the haynes manual this is the reading if the bikes on its side, (when upright should read 0.4-1.4v between yellow and blue wires) the sensor is orintated correctly though? no matter which way i put sensor im getting 3.9v?

Take it out and put a 470 ohm resistor across the yellow/green and black/blue wires. That should solve any problems with it.

God forbid you ever tip it, but at least replacing it would ensure your engine would stop in the eventuality. I'd prolly do as Speed8 suggests though (in true locost spirit)

Yep 470 ohm resistor does the trick

thanks guys ,does the tilt sensor stop you getting a spark or does it just cut the fuel pump? ive just gone and brought a resistor. thanks

Both as it shuts down the ECU

tilt sensor solved!!!!!!!
thanks guys so much.
the resistor is the only way it works for me
i tried shorting the wires directly before and that totally killed the pump just need a spark now, damn im at a wedding in scotland tommoro for the weekend hope i can get it fired, so i can get pissed

did you look into the ignition switch side of things ?

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!! IVE GOT A SPARK!

well ...

it all came down to two things

1. Faulty tilt sensor

2.One of the red/black wires was loose, these were crimped by yamaha! (advise anyone to solder these and not trust a crimp) trouble was i couldnt see it cause it was all insulated.

all i need now is to connect fuel line and it should start, as i now have all the elements

A big ,big thanks to all the guys who have helped, i know this subject has been touched alot, but when you think you've got everything right, something else bites you in the ass!
