blade regulator

hi all

just started up my engine (engine swap from zx9 to blade 919)

i noticed the regulator get hot and i mean hot !!

how hot should it get ?
i would say its burning hot !

or is there a problem?

Unless it causes a problem I'd leave it... these are known to run VERY HOT - remember your fingers can only withstand in the region of 40 degrees!

Most electricals can go up to 100 degrees...

As long as its got a good heat sink plate and is in a well ventilated cool air place - it should be ok...

fitted one from a vfr750 i had knocking around and that does the same so must be so..

could you not put a 12v cpu pc fan on it ?

i have a few hanging about if you want one

Yep, Id fit something too cool it otherwise it will eventually burn out. I also used an old Athlon CPU heatsink / fan on mine and it lasted the entire time I had the engine, about 3 years. Alternatively you could bolt it to a plate of ally (not sheet / panels etc - it nees to be reasonably thick) to dissipate the heat.

Make sure it has a really good heatsink I had one go and swapped to another one which a bike shop recommended, which has morer cooling fins on it. I also bolted it to a block of alloy and attached some heatsink cooling fins on that. Sorry the pictures so big

Its lasted 2yrs now.
