engine still cutting out
tim windmill - 5/11/06 at 09:58 PM

2004 carb fazer,i can get the engine to start but it runs for about 5 secs and stops. tried wirng the fuel pump so it is wired to ignition live and same result. i have shorted out clutch switch and side stand switch but it will not keep running.
for the short time that it does run it sounds sweet so i am sure its an electrical problem. have i overlooked something simple? any help appreciated

Some flamable aerosol in the inlet(s helpers needed lol) after the 5 secs would rule out a fuel problem

Just incase it was beating the fuel pump or float chambers, 1 of those things you can't really see.

An old trick is to put a strobe timing light on it and observe if it is still flashing as it it dies, this can confirm spark is happening or not.

is there a " tip over " switch in the wiring?.

if so have you overriden it(held right way up and pumped full of silicon sealer usually does the trick).

close the gap on the plugs... if it helps u got a dodgy coil ignition pack

have you got an immobiliser fitted to it if so sounds like it isnt seeing an engine running signal ?

I'd have a look for the Tip over switch if there is one. 5 seconds is what I've heard mentioned before for the cut out time
