are you happy with it'

how much did they charge mate

ruskino80 - 3/12/06 at 12:04 PM

this was an upgrade from a c type zx9r-not really worth the bother it is more powerfull but not really noticeably, however i did other upgrades including paddle shift at the same time cost at holeshot was 430 but that included a new power commander as i am injection now.overall happy enough(its not slow)cheers rich

Cool glad to hear it went ok. Its the same bloke that did mine a couple of months back and i got 128 bhp on the same rolling road with my 03 954 blade engine. This may help disprove the myth that the R1 contingent puts forward i.e. that Blade engines are miles behind on power compared with the equivalent R1. Erm i think not

I'm not surprised you were terrified- my knees were trembling too as he was screwing the living daylights out of my Indy! I had visions of it leaping off the rollers and dissapearing through the door!

It's always a bit scary watching your own car on the rollers. When I had my mini set up that was damn scary! 8,000 in 4th, 110 mph and 112 Db! Soooo scared it was about to shoot out the door.

I know two rolling roads are never the same but I have had two different cars on the rollers at TTS and at Powertec.

At TTS it was a 2001 R1 and made 137 RWHP

At Powertec it was a 2003 R1 and made 135 RWHP.

Although the injected R1 looks a bit down on the carb'd one I would say that was within the bounds of error between rolling roads. The injected R1 certainly had better midrange power and torque curves though.

What surprises me is that your 04 motor looks a bit down on power. It should be around 150+ RWHP given that it makes 175 at the crank in the bike. I would guess that something is limiting the top-end power? My first guess would be poor exhaust design as this can make a huge difference if the pipe lengths are not spot on.

Good to see some of the newer R1's are starting to make it onto the road, I bet 13000 rpm sounds glorious :-)

Cheers

Paul

Just had a look in your photo archive and I can see that your engine is in fact an 02-03 generation R1. In that case the power you are making is spot on.

Enjoy it :-)
