BMW K or R series

ok, this might be a highlight (for some of you) , im getting interested in bike engines , but only the BMW engine since i see that it has a seperate gearbox , i noticed the r series boxer looks to be able to connect to other gearboxes , but does the later K series 4 cylinder have the same capability .

and before you say , use the bike gearbox , it might not be that easy , im looking for a small capacity engine that can be swapped directly for another .

You can buy the gearbox separate from the engine and the engine is a joint venture between BMW and Peugeot and is based on car technology so you could be on a runner.

providing the gearbox you are going to mate it too can handle the rpm without spitting the dummy.

Guzzis use a separate gearbox and shaft drive as well and the clutch in them is very car like, have a look in google images. My mate has one and the clutch looks like a metro/mini unit.

Check out this picture, looks like the gearbox is part of the engine.

That's the newer Beemer motor - the 'bricks' and boxers have a seperate box.
