Hi All,

Thought I would share this link with you all. Good friend of mine, Derek, has just uploaded some video footage of the RGB race at Donington Sept06.

He's driving a Fury with Blade engine, doing 1.20min laps. I was a bit behind.... Shows how much fun racing can be

Cheers

Paul

Excellent! It just reminds me why my next car would be a Fury Spider with the classic bonnet.....

Gotta do me some of that in my VortX...

Glad you liked 'em.

I forgot to mention the car is a Live axled Fury. Derek picked it up for around £7K and promptly went and finished 3rd in class C in his first year of racing, winning a couple of races in the process. Goes to show you don't need a big budget to be competitive in this series, its more down to driver talent.

Can't wait for the new season to start....

Some examples of good and mediocre driving... I really enjoyed them..

I would suggest he works more on his corner entry, as he is wasting track a lot of the time and losing out on corner exit speed as a result... but otherwise great..

Fantastic watching the last few laps battle after he almost spun.. bit of red mist I think

Hi Gman,

I'm sure there is some truth in what you say but you have to take into account he is defending the corner from people trying to overtake behind, this necessarily compromises the entry into the corner sometimes. The line was better in the vid where he was chasing the purple car.

Derek is a fairly aggressive driver though and has had a few off's when he's been a bit over ambitious - all a good learning curve. I'm the other way round, a tad too cautious !

Cheers

Hi Paul, yes I did wonder that sometimes he may have been defending a corner, but some of his lines were fairly consistent so I wasn't sure.. when he was chasing the 2 cars towards the end, I am sure he could have had a few more runs at them had he taken the wider entry, and the thing with defending into the corner is it loses you speed down the straight which the car behind can take advantage of by using the right line and cutting tighter on the corner exit..

However, this is all pretty much speculation by me, as I couldn't see in his rear view mirror..

You are spot on tho his lines chasing the purple car are much better...

By the way the purple car was a Stuart Taylor Phasar with a 2005 R1 engine in it i.e. with an additional 35bhp or so...
